Brian was one of the first ecologists to greet us when we moved to the county many decades ago. He was always a welcoming friend and a man who was a delight to work with professionally. His extensive knowledge, expertise and tireless efforts made him one of the greats in the pantheon of Hertfordshire naturalists. He leaves a gap but a rich legacy.
